The first successfull face transplant has just taken place in France.
After many years of waiting for the government to approve the ‘ethics’ of the procedure, they went ahead and transplanted skin from a dead person’s face onto the patient.
Really, the thing that shocks me there is dead, I mean dead…it just seems….really gross. They are freakin’ dead, why would you want dead skin on your face?
Anyways, apparently the doctors say that she (the patient) doesn’t look like her donor. I don’t know how they pulled that one off, but that is sweet. It is definitely amazing what medical technology is capable of these days.
This procedure could bring hope to thousands of burn victims across the globe, we just need to find people willing to donate their face…
