Oh, Spring, you sneaky little fellow. Did you show yourself today?
You, with your warmer temperatures and ridiculous amounts of ugly snow. Oh, Spring, you make me giggle.
Ahem, yes. That was my Ode to Spring.
Today was awesome. I mean, any day where the temperature is 67 in March is a good day.
So of course I went on a walk with my camera. But I tried something different today, I shot RAW — which means that I shot with the highest quality picture file supported by my camera, for those who don’t know. The only reason I hadn’t previously is because I wasn’t very good at post-processing RAW files; but, I have improved, and I must say, I will never go back to shooting JPEG ever, ever again.
This is my best photo (in my opinion) of today’s RAW shoot.

so.. how do you “process” raw? What’s the difference? I always just assumed that it was uncompressed image files..
It is uncompressed, the difference is that it will always keep the original file even though you can edit it. Think of it like a digital negative–much like a film negative.
The other difference is that you use a program called camera raw to edit it…it is a little interesting to get used to.
