I’m blogging from a new spot today: my bed. Sure, it is only a matter of feet from my usual blogging spot, but I guess it isn’t the “where” that is important, it is the “how”.
The “how” in my blogging is with my new (well, not entirely new) Mac G4 Powerbook which I received yesterday in a rather anti-climatic way.
I received the computer from my sister who in the process of buying a new and improved Powerbook (I’m guessing she’s buying the G5); however, she was planning on giving it to me while we were both in Hawaii, but because of her busy schedule she didn’t get to see me one last time after she had removed all the files, so she gave it to my other older sister to bring home.
So yesterday, in the afternoon, my mom walked up to me and told me that my sister had the computer and it was just sitting in her suitcase waiting for me. There was no special ceremony; no hiding it under my bed covers; no clues written on paper scattered throughout the house.
If there is a better way to ruining a surprise, tell me.
Anyways, the important thing is that I have the laptop, because I will be needing this in increasing amounts in the next year or so.
Yesterday I also purchased a 160 GB internal hard drive for my desktop computer because I was running out of space on my 40 GB. (I’m sure this is boring to all those who don’t really care about computers.)
With all these improvements that I am getting, I am really hoping that this whole photography thing works out, because I will have wasted a lot of money. But if it does work out, it will be because I was prepared.
I guess everything in life does take some risk. Perhaps it all comes down to how calculated those risks are. In my case, I don’t really calculate anything as much as I just listen to my gut.

Dude, thats awesome news! Good for you.
Your sister will most likely be upgrading to a MacBook Pro, similar to mine. That is also a sweet A computer.
well…we would’ve tried surprising you if we actually thought a surprise was possible…since you already knew about it anyway. oh well.
a surprise was the goal… don’t blame us… blame your mother…
one day, you’ll find that special piece of paper with a scribbled clue… just not yet.
Ahh, Paul, good to see you dropped by the butter-o-sphere…
Yes, my mother did ruin it. She’s getting good at it I think. Although she claims she didn’t know…
well also, kari didn’t SPECIFICALLY say it was a surprise.
