And thus begins the last week of school.
Really, I only need to think on Monday and Tuesday; after that, we have the high school retreat and Friday is “clean up day”.
I don’t know if I’ve ever wanted to be done with school this bad before. To think I have my senior year left is killing me. I just want to be out of high school and move onto college.
It seems like everyone disagrees with me about wanting to leave high school: all of them think high school is so “romantic” and that it is supposed to be the best time of their lives. I don’t think high school in itself is what makes it the best time, I think it is the friends, the youth, and the gaining freedoms that most teens enjoy. I’ve come to learn over the past year that high school is really what I make of it. I don’t think I will remember it the same way everyone else will, I think I’ll remember it more along the lines of just me growing up and not the over-dramatized version the media tends to present.
Honestly, I really want to go to college and skip the rest of high school because I’m more interested in learning right now than playing sports, doing stupid things with friends, partying all the time, and not caring about school. I feel college makes it easier to do that because I would be surrounded by classes I love and people who are interested in what I’m interested in.
Then again, I may have the “romanticized” version of college in my head, and that would be entirely too ironic wouldn’t it?

That would be ironic.. is there any way you can skip the rest of school? Can you test out?
I could graduate early my senior year, but that means I can’t take any AP courses to get college credits. It’s a win-lose situation either way.
thats how I felt about high school too…i was glad to graduate early, but then that last semester was REALLy pointless. It’s good that you have those AP classes. I think the credits are probably worth it unless you enrolled in college right away (january). I managed to get 12 college credits from AP and CAPP classes. Those AP credits mean you get to skip the intro classes in college, which is really nice. Intro classes can be frustrating.
I think it’s cool that you can have the experience of so many different kinds of schools tho…
well, depending on the weather, i’ll see you in about a day. i expect you to jump up and down with joy at our return!
