I have arrived here in Costa Rica.
I got in last night about 10 pm local time. What surprised me the most about being here is that the weather is absolutely perfect — about 75 during the day, 60’s during the night — and the city feels like Chicago without the skyscrapers.
Our hostel is pretty nice: it has a pool, free wireless (my favorite), satellite tv, and other things I haven’t discovered yet. We were pretty lucky that we got the only private bathroom in the facility, everyone else has to use the public showers and restrooms. Really the only downside is the room is kind of small and it sits next to a busy street with trains going by multiple times during the night and morning. I actually had a dream that I was strapped to the cement in the middle of a busy street; I then awoke to a loud train blaring its horn and I was really confused as to where I was. Altogether I got a decent sleep though, I’m not really tired today considering I awoke at 4 am yesterday and didn’t sleep on the bus or on any of my flights.
I haven’t had the opportunity to get my camera out and begin getting some pictures. I’m hoping that we will take a walk through the city or something so that I can get a feel for what Costa Rica is really like considering I only saw it in glances at night.
